Eating and drinking at the Hare & Hounds
At the Hare & Hounds we celebrate the seasons, presenting farm-to-table dining, using ingredients grown and sourced locally. Our restaurant is popular with both guests and locals alike, who enjoy the historic former coaching inn’s distinct atmosphere.
Our menu is carefully crafted by our executive head chef Ben Ashworth, all our dishes are cooked to order each day and showcase classic country cooking, using only the finest, freshest seasonal ingredients, sourced from our local suppliers and farmers across Cumbria and Lancashire.
Lunch time provides you with the perfect opportunity to savour our selection of sandwiches, light bites and daily specials, and evenings present you with the perfect excuse to linger longer and indulge in a leisurely dinner from our extensive selection of pub classics and a la carte dishes.
Younger diners won’t miss out either… they can enjoy a selection of smaller dishes from the main menu as well as a selection of old favourites…
Pooches are welcome too, there are plenty of quite corners where they can watch the comings and goings… and there are some great walks right on the doorstep, perfect for letting off a bit of steam before a feast.
Sundays are a little bit special… you can savour one of our fantastic Sunday lunches served up with all the trimmings, all you need to do is choose which one of our roasts to have, once you’ve done that, we’ll do the rest...
Why not choose a table in the main dining area or enjoy a quieter spot in one of the more intimate character corners… and if you’re lucky enough you may even be able to bag the top spot by our roaring open fire, the perfect spot to plot up on a chilly day…
One thing is for certain, whenever you choose to dine with us, we can guarantee you will enjoy amazing food in a relaxing, friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the Hare & Hounds, Bowland Bridge.

As much as we are passionate about food, we don’t want to lose our identity as a great pub.
We’re all for you popping by for a drink and a chat at the bar or, on a cold day by the fire.
We have all the drinks you’d expect a pub to stock including a selection of artisan gins, vodkas and whiskies, continental lagers, and hand pulled real ales.
There’s also a wide selection of wines to choose from, with everything from crisp refreshing whites from Spain and New Zealand, to big juicy reds from Italy and South Africa by the bottle or glass, or if you fancy something a bit special, we have some very lovely Champagne on ice just waiting for you.
We try to offer a diverse range of international lagers, beers, ciders and non-alcoholic drinks. If you have any requests or suggestions, please let us know and we will be pleased to add them to our collection, so that everyone can enjoy them.
Gins and tonics
We stock more than 15 different gins including quite a few from the north of England including Whitley Neill and several from the Lake District including Langston’s No1, alongside several classics such as Hendrick’s and Gordon’s.
We also stock Fever Tree Tonic, which is a blend of fabulous botanical oils with spring water and the highest quality quinine from the fever tree. It’s a delicious, natural tonic with a uniquely clean and refreshing taste and aroma.
Our premium vodka selection is sourced from all over the world, and in many cases, they are handcrafted, and triple distilled to create unique flavours... simply make your choice mix it up or sip it on the rocks
Whisky, Whiskey and Bourbon
English, American, Canadian, Irish or Scottish name your poison…we’ve taken a great deal of care to choose a fine selection of blended and single malt drams from around the globe… pull up a chair by the fire and savour a wee dram to warm yourself up…
