Eating and drinking at the Hare & Hounds
Our food at the Hare and Hounds is derived from delicious ingredients which we source locally where ever possible. We are passionate about providing an inspired home cooked menu which changes seasonally to ensure that only the tastiest and freshest Lake District produce is used. Our head chef and his team also create a seasonal daily specials menu so there will always be something new for you to try.
Speciality teas and coffee are served all day. There are newspapers and magazines and toys to keep the little ones happy as well as water bowls for our four legged friends. So whether you are just whiling the time away or meeting friends this is the perfect place to be.
The bar at the Hare & Hounds is the hub of all activity. As we are a free house we offer an ever changing range of award winning local real ales so beer lovers can always try something new. Our signature ale ‘The Hare of the Dog’, brewed by Tirril Brewery is very popular with the locals. If its wine you fancy, our exclusive wine list has something to tempt and will suit every pocket.

We also offer full English Breakfasts for non residents at £9.95 per person between 9am and 10 am daily - pre booking is essential.
We pride ourselves on providing locally sourced fresh produce for our restaurant and bar. Our lamb and pork is from Derek Smith of Fell House Farm, and our beef is from David Clarke of Tulithwaite Hall Farm. Both within a couple of miles of the Hare & Hounds. We have an ever changing range of locally brewed beers catering for every taste and our local farm cider from Cowmire Hall, just around the corner, is very popular with locals and visitors alike.
